DESCRIPTION
The Children’s Place is Kansas City’s leading trauma-informed early childhood education program and counseling center. The Children’s Place has grown to become Kansas City’s leading resource for children and families remediating trauma. Many TCP students are currently in foster care and referred by child welfare systems. TCP has been a safe place for more than 20,000 children. While they have grown in their ability to treat the effects of trauma, they have outgrown their facility in Brookside they’ve called home for almost 30 years.
We are providing full Owner’s Representative services for a $12 million adaptive reuse of a former charter school. This project includes full renovation of the existing building in addition to a new expansion link connecting two structures.
Advocating for The Children’s Place throughout the renovation and build-out of approximately +/- 45,000 SF of existing space located on Rockhill Road.
Project Scope for design and construction includes creation of outdoor classrooms, an outdoor play area, new kitchen and cafeteria, secure bus drop-off area and necessary parking.

Construction will begin in November 2019 and is expected to be complete in Fall 2020.
